Boys Republic is a non-profit school and treatment community. Founded in 1907, Boys Republic has guided over 32,000 disadvantaged boys and girls towards productive and fulfilling lives. Boys Republic’s vocational programs give students the tools to find employment upon leaving school and fosters good work habits that allow them to keep those jobs. The student bakery is one such vocational program; here, students learn about the science behind baking and the ins and outs of everyday operations in a commercial bakery. This program provides disadvantaged youth with the theoretical knowledge as well as the hands-on work experience that prepares them for lives as responsible, self-reliant members of the communities they return to.
